Thanks, that is very useful. Perhaps you (or someone) could help me understand even more by answering this question: What is the relation between immanence in D&G and materialsm (see e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Materialism)? Is it a kind of materialism? If so, what distinguishes it from other kinds of materialism? (Of course, the article explains that D&G avoid defining it in contrast to transendence, and this may be taken as one difference between immanance and at least some materalist doctrines.)
