2008: A Year of a Thousand Plateaus

2008 is the first year when Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit has been around in the Western world for two hundred years. We have seen many strange things during this modern period of knowledge: existentialism, psycho-analysis, political economy, dialectics, molecular biology and quantum mechanics. In two hundred years we have virtually exploded in multiple structures of knowledge, and at the end of the 20th century postmodernism and pure logic finally gave up thinking about the world and resorted to text, contexts and discourse analysis. When the world no longer made sense, at least texts did.
Fortunately postmodernism imploded and pure logic now only lives in the shadows of contemporary philosophy. But what are the alternatives? How can we proceed thought to include the material as well as the immaterial? How can we advance a political theory analysing power outside the text to include guns, walls and prisons as well as regimes of signs? How can we stop feeling guilty for never arriving at Hegel's synthesis, and instead navigate with a prosthesis in the multiple worlds and knowledges sparkling in the fin du millénaire schizophrenia?
We celebrate the multiple by reading A Thousand Plateaus, not by ourselves, but together. Not as a collective with a leader, but as a pack of nomads. Capitalismandschizophrenia.org is a well in the solitary desert, where we meet up to, read, write, talk, make friends, make revolutions, make love... make philosophy!
The abstract schedule for reading together will synchronize time, and the internet will synchronize space. Folded together the abstract schedule is then to be elaborated with precise dates, and rooms.
